We’re excited to share our latest initiative to empower parents and caregivers of children with Down syndrome in Bunyoro. By organizing these dedicated individuals into collaborative groups, we’re creating opportunities for financial freedom and community support.

Our groups aim to function as mini-organizations at the local level, driving awareness and providing our children with more time for essential activities like speech, physiotherapy, and play therapy. These therapies are crucial for their development and well-being.

In addition to these therapeutic activities, we envision these groups proposing projects that involve our children, making the initiatives more inclusive. This approach will equip our children with valuable skills and employment opportunities, enhancing their future prospects.

At a recent meeting in Masindi District with officials from Abilis Foundation Uganda, a branch of the Abilis Foundation of Finland, we received positive feedback on our submitted proposal for the two groups of Kyabigambire and Katasenywa. Our members will soon be engaging in a goat-rearing project, a venture we believe will significantly impact the lives of our children in Masindi, particularly in the Katasenywa and Kyabigambire sub-counties.

Together, we can build a supportive, inclusive, and prosperous community for our children. Join us in this journey towards creating a brighter future for every child.
